it was a rough night on a few people, myself included.

Aanderud had a small one come unbottoned around 7:55pm and that was the last action we saw all night. No thumps, no runs, no channel cat hits, no nothing. Sat on the river until 1am.

This was in a spot that has been fairly productive recently as well.

So the head scratching starts... cold front, timing, location, just an off night, or is the spawn in full effect right now. It'll be nice to see some guys picking up scarred up fish pretty soon, that would answer a few questions.

Thank gosh it wasn't just me. I stunk the place up last night. I fished for 8 hours and only managed one 6lb channel. One small one got off 1/2 way to the boat, but all of my best spots were totally devoid of action. confused.gif

I think location was key last night...Iwe had pretty good action from 7-10pm. lots of runs...only two flats in the boat tho...my last run on my last bully snapped my 35lb gorilla line...that'll teach me!

They arent in full spawn mode yet. I have only seen a few beat up fish, that includes other peoples recent fish in pictures. The water is plenty warm, but am pretty sure its as much as a calendar hing as it is a water temp thing.

I was fishing th same stretch the same night.. it was a very tough night. We managed a few channels, but no flats. There was definately a huge change in the weather... as far as we know there could have been a good bite at noon.

I expect to see quite a few beat up flatheads in the next week or two, the majority of the spawn activity usually starts around the 1st week of July, but fishing starts get get spotty even now.

the sirens have been going off for a while down here but the system seems to have moved over us for the most part. it's beens kinda wicked the last week or so with high humidity and when it rains it pours. got hit by popcorn sized hail last night down here.
