Backyard greens & blues [pics]

Looks like you are getting some nice shots with the 70-200 f4 and the 1.4x TC. I have the 70-200 f2.8 and have been contemplating getting the 1.4x TC. Did you have a polarizing filter on for these shots?

Thanks. No,I didn't have a polarizer on for any of them, thats what has impressed me the most about this lens, the saturation and contrast are really good. The blues and greens really pop with this lens.As for my in camera settings, all are at default [0] except for sharpness, which I run at 3 when I do bird photos. These pics are at those settings. I just do a crop and re-size in photo shop, only because I find the cropping and re-sizing feature is easier to use than the ones in Canon DPP. After hours of testing,I could not dissern a difference running the TC or not [aside from losing 1 stop] which I think says alot for the glass in the TC.

This is just a pic. that was still on the card. The bird flew away before i got him,but I think it shows what I mean about this lens liking the blues and greens. This is also un-doctored,save for a quick crop and re-size.

The blue of the sky seemed to change if I turned and shot in a different direction, sometimes it was darker, sometimes lighter. I was using a lens hood.

Do you have the Canon 1.4xII TC? I absolutely love my 70-200 mounted on my 30D as well. I find I keep that lens attached almost all the time now. I think you have convinced me that I need the TC in my gear bag as well. I think the kids are going to have to get me one for Father's Day grin.gif

Nice shots MM. I use my 1.4X TC II as much as any lens in my bag. Works good on the 70-200/2.8, works fantastic on the 300/2.8. I would recommend the TC II to anyone looking for a bit more reach.
