Rivernut
Thorne Brothers in Fridley can fix the rod's. They do an excellent job. If they don't work on reel's, they"ll know who does! Good luck.
Daze Off
There is a guy at Trails End Bass Pro Shop on Hwy 65 who repairs/services reels. Does a pretty good job or used to anyway.Daze Off
Cabela10
I have a tip that I need to repair on a St. Croix rod, am I better off doing it myself or bringing it to Thorne Bros. If so, how much do they charge for a guide/tip replacement?
Pherris
Wayazata Bait and Tackle. They are a shimano authorized repair shop and do a great job.
senkoskipper
yea i just talk to the guy at wayzata bait store and they do shimanos $18.00 each. He said they pretty much take the whole thing apart, clean it and completely rebuild it. Seems like a good deal to me.
st.crioxfishin
Bobby, whats wrong with the tip? Do you just need a new guide, or is it actually broken? If you just need a new tip call the company and they will ask for the rod specs. Then they will send you the right size guide along with the glue in the mail within a week. I did that this spring for two rod tips and it was only $5.
Cabela10
The middle part of the guide came out. Not sure how, first time it has happened on any of my rods. How do you take the guide off the tip? I seen somebody mention a lighter before.
st.crioxfishin
haha, same exact thing happened to both of mine. To take off the tip just use a lighter to heat up the glue on the inside of the tip and it should come right off. I would call st.croix for the right size rod tips, I tried ordering them from cabelas at first and ended up ordering the wrong size and it was a waste of about $12. If you call the company they will send the exact size you need for the specified rod.
notrailer
If you look on St. Croix's site they will often have the tip sizes listed for their rods. Not sure how their prices compare to others though. You can always upgrade to a better tip in the same size as well. SiC guides/tips are nice, but a little more $. You'll need new glue as well.I bet you can get the guide and glue for under $10, but the shipping will bring it up. That's why Thorne's is a good rescource.
