LMITOUT
Nascar announced today that the COT will run a full schedule in 2008. I bet a lot of teams are happy about this as they won't have to run two different types of cars and drivers won't have to bounce back and forth either. PERCHJR
Well it's official NASCAR is done, put a fork in them!!! I know you guys will ride me about this but hey I think that alot of other fans will agree with me!!! Perchjr
lawdog
Typical non-sense over reaction perch. The owners have been wanting this to avoid running the duel programs. Really doesn't make much sense to make them run both programs and incur those expenses. The ARCA boys are going to have some good equipment next year with all these good cup cars available to sell... PERCHJR
That's probablly true but all in all I hate the COT, I am old school I wish NASCAR wasn't changing everything around like they have been!!! But as we all know mine opinion means jack around here!!! Perchjr
VMS
I think that the more things change, the more the Cup series is looling like IROC. Each team is running the same body style so aerodynamics are (or should be) identical from car to car. The engines are almost identical in design but can be tuned differently. Gear ratios are mandated at some tracks as are other replaceable suspension parts... It all seems to be the same...and the racing so far I have seen is still yet to be decided upon. We'll really get to see what these cars do in the fall at Talledega.I miss seeing the different body styles, engines etc of yesteryear (and I know..it's all in safety which is good, but variety is out)in time we'll all adjust...steve
OUTDOORNUT
It will have a negative impact on NASCAR for sure! How can it not? I could really care less about watching races anymore, there was a day not to long ago I would tape the race if I couldn't see it live and avoid all media outlets to assure I didn't know the results. Those days seem to be long gone and I truly believe that is also happening to many of people that have been watching NASCAR for many years also. How many people followed the IROC races....... harvey lee
I believe that the racing will be fine with the COT cars. Changes are needed to keep things going. Some thought the new points system would hurt and they still have huge crowds.
Uncle Bill
Although getting even further away from "stock".I don't see that big of a difference between the cars of the last 5 or 10 years, and COT cars.
TNFL
The COY looks a lot different that the CODA (decades ago) and I'm sure everytime they have changed people thought it was the end of the world. The biggest complaint i've heard the last few years is that a car gets out front and it is impossible to pass. I'll trust the stat Lawdog threw out last week that there have been a higher average of "quality passes" in the COT races. I think the racing will be better you just have to open your eyes and your mind to notice.
