BobT
I wonder how much effect it really has. Aside from shallow bays and the like, I suspect the temperatures have been fluctuating too rapidly to have much effect on water temps as a whole. It takes some time at higher temps to raise the volume in a lake a degree or two.Bob
sparcebag
We've had high winds since opener 15-25 MPH.I'm sure its turnin the water over and warmin it,But geeze its constant wind!
BobT
That's for sure. I bet the wind is having more effect than the temperature swings.Bob
GlassEyeangler
i went out today for roughly 5 hours...and only hooked one walleye. (...8 inches of walleye, uughh!) needless to say, i threw it back in the water. i've been out just about every other day since Opener, and I agree the fishing has been tough. i've netted 4 sheephead and 1 walleye in the last three outings. i've only heard of one person say they've done any good...my neighbor! he went out yesterday (Sunday), and got 5 walleyes (one at 21.5") and 15 crappie. aside from his report...no one has been doing very well. i agree the weather has a lot to do with the bite...and the wind isn't helping either. actually the walleyes like the wind - it's me and my boat that doesn't. i guess that's why they call it fishing instead of catching. the rest of this week looks pretty funky weatherwise too. polarsusd81
My buddy and I did alright tonight. We went out on a metro area lake and fished an inside bend in about 15 feet, just outside the weed line. The wind worked to our advantage and we caught 15 walleyes and oddly enough there were a few bass and bluegills mixed in with the eyes. All the eyes were right around 13" to 15". We used up 2 dozen leeches and a pack of Gulp Leeches as well. The south wind today helped for us. We have been out three times since opener and found that the water temp really hasn't changed much, same lake all three times.Tom

Norco
I was out yesterday, cloudy overcast, cool and between me and my bro inlaw we had 39 walleye, 1 pike and a sucker. This was an early season best for me I used to only go out on nice days but now that I enter tournaments I have to learn to deal with all sorts of weather. Bassboy1645
Fishing has been tough for me but Ive been out everyday and 90 percent of my fish are vertical jigging or a few other forms of finesse type fishing. out of about 35-45 eyes I have caught already 10-11 of them have been nicer 19-23 inch fish. I caught the 23incher today on the MN river throwing raps in a foot of water. The other night we caught one but the boat broke down
