Mankato Flathead Gathering - June 16th, 2007

Location: Land of Memories Park, Mankato, MN

Time: Early afternoon

What: Flathead Catfishing and talk session

Who: Experienced catters, rookie catters, and everyone in between. Boat fisherman & shore fisherman too!

Last years gathering was a good time so we are going to do the same thing again this year, just 1 week earlier.

Land of Memories Campground has a nice boat ramp with access to miles of productive flathead water. Good shore spots are also available in the 'Kato early but you'll have to get there early as they fill up fast on the weekends.

The game plan is to meet up with everyone in the campground in the early afternoon. Hopefully we can get camping spots near the boat ramp again. We'll hang out, cook some food, talk, and strategize for an evening of fishing. As the sun starts to head toward the horizon, we'll head out to our fishing spots.

Last year, IceHouseBob cooked an awesome breakfast the following morning if you are going to spend the night there. I would recommend taking advantage of this.

I know I plan on heading down to Mankato and fishing Friday night and Saturday night while camping at Land of Memories.

I think we have a pretty good list of people coming already so post here if you are in and I'll add you to the list.

I'm in again. Pretty sure I will bring the bigger boat this time. We'll see what the water level looks like as the time approaches.

I will also be going up Friday and Staying the weekend. Head out around noonish.

I'm sure Rushing can keep us updated on river levels. Right now, the water is up down there and navigation is a cinch.

yeah, we have a lot of water down here right now. other than the occasional log peeking out you can run about anywhere.

hanson, too bad i gotta work the weekends. it woulda been nice to get out with you and rob last week. right now i'm limited to sunday monday wednesday for fishing nights. definatly takin off the day and night for the gathering this year. really regret missing last years.

It didn't sound like PapaGrump was going to be able to make it. So I will either be there with an open seat available, or have to jump in with someone else. As long as I'm soaking a bait, I could care less.

I'm going to try my hardest it to make it down this time. I was supposed to show up last year, but ended up having car trouble days before.

As it gets closer to date, I will have more of an idea if I can go. I realy have been contumplating going. If possible, could I have another guy come with his boat. We might get another boat full to come, just a possiblity. I know my brother-in law has been talking about us going. I have told him about it. Sounds like alot of fun. I am allways up for a little drive to go fishing for cats.

i would love to make it to this get together, unfortunatly i won't know if i can until it gets closer due to me being a truck driver. I own my own truck so it is easier to get time off for things..i would really like to meet a bunch of fellow catters

Rugybyguy and I just talked about this trip again last night. Now we just need to run it by the wives and get clearance I hope to commit within a week or so.

I was there last year and brought my entire camp kitchen to cook breakfast for the assembled multitude. I brought two coolers of fixings and a canope to cover the cooking area. There were only two of the group that showed up for breakfast. I ended up shanghi-ing a young couple and their two little boys and forcing them to eat breakfast. If I knew that more people were going to stay for BOB'S BREAKFAST BUFFET I will take a couple vacation days and be there.

menu would include;

pancakes deluxe

sausage

bacon

sweet rolls

eggs, any form but Benedict(anyone ordering it gets smacked)

ultimate breakfast sandwiches

Other things can be added to the menu with prior notice.
