How bad will he get it ?

Looks to be that DEI,Jr, and Tony Eury will be getting some penalties and fines come next week. They got caught playing with the spoiler.

You would think thast one of these days , all teams would figure out they cannot get away with that.

I believe it was proven and they are only waiting to see what NASCAR does next week. Doesnt really matter why it was done, wrong is wrong.

I cheer for Jr every week but he must pay his penalty like all others.

Jeff Hammond said he expects points and that Tony Jr. will have a suspension. I think they will want to set a strong precedent with messing with aero on these C.O.T.'s. Its one of the big pushes is to take aero dependence out of it and they said this bracket was specifically designed to give some sort of aero advantage. That will bring down the big hammer I'm thinking...

Uh Oh! I didn't catch all of it as I tuned into Jr.s channel on Direct TV Track Pass right before the race started. On that channel the announcer made it sound like the teams were suppose to use a new bracket and had an old one on, and that they simply had to change to the new bracket and that it was no big deal?!?!?

It will be interesting to see how this shakes out. If it is as Jeff Hammond states, I think NASCAR will slap the team pretty hard.

I really believe that the majority of the items that NASCAR catches are not cheating. These teams must push the rules to the limits or they will not be competitive. Its just the nature of the beast.

One always hears about the faster teams getting caught pushing the limits and they are also the ones that are winning the races.

Actually, the guy that used to win most popular driver Bill Elliott was made famous for his smaller scale car.

The #8 !*("TEAM")*! must have thought if you win MPD a few times you are allowed to do whatever you want to the body.

I think T E set him up to make him look bad...yeaaaahhhh, thats it... to make him look bad.

Or maybe his crew was getting back at him for leaving. Gotta be one of those two.

Blatently going into the gray area and beyond is one thing, but a screw up is just a screw up. Everyone assumes right away that they were bending the rules.

Like I said, guilty until proven innocent.

Eury called it an "interpretation." "It was a bad deal," he said. "It was a part that got put on there that shouldn't have. We've done a lot of offseason testing for NASCAR. There's been three different styles of brackets on there and it just happened to be one of those old-style brackets." Eury said the brackets were the same ones that weren't discovered during pre- or post-qualifying inspections. "It fit all of their templates," he said. "It just had a problem when you put [the angle] to where you should have." Eury said he tried to explain how to fix the problem to series director John Darby. "I was definitely not trying to get away with nothing, so you can take it for what it is," he said. "There's nothing I can do about it. Whatever they hand down, it certainly wasn't on purpose."

The so called gray area

I lifted this from nascar.com.

Hamlin was mildly critical of NASCAR for not throwing a caution late in the race for a plethora of debris he said he saw on the track.

"I literally pumped my fist, the caution would come out and of course if the caution comes out, it's game over ... Hendrick gets another break," he said.

NASCAR spokesperson Kerry Tharp said officials saw the debris, however, ruled it was "low on the racetrack and outside the racing groove."

Hmmmmmmm......

Do you smell what the nascar's got cookin ??

I smell that people are sick of green white checkered. And that if it is at all possible they want to finish the race green. Thats what they have always said. To throw a debris caution with 2 to go is rediculous. Especially if they think the debris is out of the way. And as far as taking Hamlin's, (or any driver that has the best car and is in 2nd place) word for it. I think he had a vested interest as to whether or not he thought they should have a caution.

Did any of you notice obvious debris while watching the closing laps??? I did not. So to claim conspiracy is a little too convenient for 24 haters!

They showed the debris on some post race shows. It was all over. Biffle said that he saw Busch go low to pass someone and he drove over some debris and it kicked it up in the air, so it was close enough to the racing groove to call a caution if NASCAR wanted to. NASCAR officiating seems to have more gray area than the parts on some of the team's cars. It's funny how they throw cautions for mysterious debris fairly consistantly this season to bunch up the field, and now all of a sudden they let it go for debris that was actually pretty bad.

The script is already been written for the next race though. Hamlin will conveniently get some sort of penalty for his comments. NASCAR is so transparent in it's actions it's laughable.

I think this is a knee jerk reaction to all the complaining people were doing before. i.e. Tony Stewert

That fact is the fans can't have it both ways. First, they complain about too many cautions, then its not enough cautions. Make up your mind.

I thought it was rediculous the prior week when MacMurry sp? had the flat tire and could not get to the pits, so he rides aroung once and still couldn't get to the pits, so he has to ride around again by now he's 2 laps down his tire shreds debris all over cars wrecked (competitively speaking) and I'm wondering why they didn't throw a caution. To me a car that misses the pits and it stuck on the top of the track is as much if not more of a danger to the other cars than a peice of spring rubber on the track.

The problem is that nascar is losing fans, and they are listening too much to feedback from whiner fans who aren't the "real fans" anyways. They just need to be more consistant.

I don't think the fans need to make up their minds, NASCAR needs to make up their mind.

When NASCAR changes their procedure every week how can the fans or the teams count on any consistancy? Their fallback excuse is that it's a judgement call. Well, there are lots of judgement calls in all sports....for the most part a travel is a travel and a faskmask is a faskmask, and it's called as such 95% of the time, yet NASCAR is about 50/50 on how they are going to call these debris cautions. No consistancy.

The fans and drivers start counting on the fact that a debris means caution since NASCAR has been so tight with that this season, and then all of a sudden it isn't. How do they make up their minds or have any sense of whats going to happen when they are getting jerked around all the time by NASCAR? Time to dust off the Magic 8-Ball to figure out whats next.

I don't know Limitout, there are lots of discretionary calls on facemasks, holdings etc in football too. I ref high school football and could probably throw a flag on every play if I wanted to. You are taught in officiating to call the things that actually affect the outcome of a play. Much like a race official, they have to judge if they should throw a caution or not, its not black and white, never has been never will be. Do they get some wrong? Sure, everybody who has to make calls gets some wrong eventually, that doesn't make it a conspiracy or a crime. You guys need to lighten up and just enjoy the races a bit mroe. Take in the greatness of the 24, you are getting to see one of the best of all time driving at his peak, just relish the opportunity and quit your wining!!! grin.gif
