on board charger/batteries/ventilation

i have a minnkota onboard charger hooked up to my 24v batteries. i believe there is suppose to be adequate ventilation when charging. should i install some sort of vent so I can keep my battery compartments closed? until now i have just kept a lid open but i am thinking about installing a plug so I can just plug the ext. cord into that while the boat is at the dock. any comments or suggestions would be appreciated. what do others do? thank you.

I try to leave my lid open when charging, or prop something in there like a towel or life jacket to keep it cracked open a couple of inches.

I actually attached my on board charger to the lid of my storage area, that way when I charged i just flipped up the lid and left it open. Of course I had to make sure it was sitting in the shade, which isn't hard in my driveway

You do want to keep battery area ventilated while charging, the gases released are highly flamable. Leaving the lid open is best way to assure proper ventilation.
