Season B

Well I'm regretful to say that my first opportunity with the bow didn't result in a tom. As many pictures as I studied I always had a hard time visualizing to aim so far back on the turkey as well as high. Well when the moment of truth came I forgot about all this and let the arrow fly at the center of the bird, which shot straight threw his breast muscle. He fluttered some at first but walked off with 3 other toms as if he weren't even hit. I know that no vitals were hit am hoping he will be fine. Just want to put out a reminder for those using bows to know where the turkeys vitals are. Aim nearly straight above the legs if broadside and you can't hit them too high. I have a neat video of this experience I'll try to get posted when I figure out how. I moved to a new location and tomorrow morning am hoping for a second chance if I can get off work in time.

I hear ya Tipp. Had the same thing happen to me during A opening morning. Wound up hitting him low forward through the breast... all meat. He fanned out again after the shot like nothing happened... I was sick at first but I got him on video and replayed the shot and saw he was fine. You'll get more opportunities - The weather is gorgeous today that's for sure. Keep at em and get some video clips for us. Good luck!

Thanks for the tip and reminder. I was thinking of trying my bow and blind skills this year, but maybe I'm just not ready yet since I didn't even think about that location.

I think you just cost a bird his life! Not yours, mine!
