Well, I'll be. That's me with my first walleye caught on a fly. If it was not for a deep hook, this "close to eight" would still be swimming.

Nice walleye Dan! So flies are doing the trick? Keep cathing those pigs.
Rap, it's been a long one, but atleast now we can check out the pictures. I'll keep looking for another way for you to post your pictures and I'll let you know if anything comes up.
Good Fishing, Matt.

Well Matt,

Fly fishing for eyes is not what I would call one of my traditional methods that's for sure. One warm evening, in the shallow bay where the cabin is, the water was full of small swirls. My neighbor said it was shiners eatting the emerging mayflys. Having never caught a shiner, used them for bait but never actually caught one, I grabbed my fly rod and went to it. I found out those swirls were all walleyes or various sizes. The feeding frenzy lasted about two hours and had to have been one of the most exciting fishing experiences I've ever had. In the 12 years being on that lake, that was the only time I ever witnessed this kind of activity. A right place at the right time deal to be sure.

I must add, I lost a fat fish, right next to the dock, that made that "close to eight" look tiny.

Dan

just a suggestion to anyone who wants to do this, of course i can't post a pic for some reason....u can go to your 'profile' and put a picture into your 'signature box' and every time you make a post, your pic will appear below the message in a little seperate box, i have seen this done on many other sites with this format, but no one does it on this one for some reason, it's pretty cool when everyone does put pics in their signatures on other sites i've seen...

nice pics toadspaghetti! there's alot of really nice fish there! i like the picture of ya stuck in the snow. my friend and i were talking about how it'd be funny to drill a big hole in the ice to kneel in and wave our arms in the air like that, but i guess it wouldn't be funny for the people who come dashing to our rescue!
