So my sister in laws boy friend is looking at getting flat bottom boat (16 footer), used of course, and I have a 9.9 kicker on my boat that I would let him use on his boat next fall for duck season, with me in the boat of course. what kinds of problems will we encounter, besides the lack of speed with 3 people, all above average heighth wise.....will long shaft motor work on a short shaft transom?

Valves right I have a 15hp long shaft on a 16' crestliner about 15 or so inches, its kind of a hassle with that shaft down so far and my dock in a shallow bay I have to get momentum going and pull motor. with my short shaft motor though I run to dock.

I've seen them in marine catalogs. They are pretty much a block of wood or plastic with metal mounting brackets. The one I'm thinking of was made for your purpose. Supposedly it helps with handling due to the set back as well?

I found some googling: small outboard jack plates

Be prepared for lots of water coming back into the boat from the spray.Did this one year for duck openener,my 1960 johnson gave up so i robbed my 15 yammy long shaft kicker off of my big boat.I actualy seemed dangerous, used it one weekend like that and never again.Burl.
