Carolina rigging a hard bait

Anybody here carolina rig hard baits, such as minnow baits or crank baits? This sounds like a neat presentation fish might not have seen before. If you have used it, what do you like to throw, how big, and how fast do you retrive it? Thanks for any input.

use them all year long,i like to fish them on the beds ( i know some guys dont like to thats fine but they are put back!!!) start with a 1/2 oz bell sinker and use a 4 inch minnow stick bait slide it into the bed and give the bait easy pulls with your hand, have the nose of the bait hit the sinker keep doing it until they eat your bait,and i drag it in deep water the same way but i put a swivel in and run my snell and use a 6 inch minnow bait. hope this helps.

Beds? As is in spawning? you can't fish when they are spawning in MN? And they are off their beds by June.. no?

There are plenty of bass still on beds in MN in June. As always it is weather/temp dependent, but I would bet a paycheck that bass are spawning somewhere in MN during June every year.

I've caught plenty of LEGAL fish in minnesota on beds. The best fishing day I had last year was on a very large body of water sight fishin smallies on the bass opener last year

lots of bass on beds i would say until mid june on some lakes i fish south of the citys.
