Bearfan1963
Hey anybody got any action info on Chubby Darters. Been hearing alot about them, but never used them. How are they fished and are they worth the money? Are they good for open water or just ice fishing? Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Random guy
Pike can't stand them. I always went to my good ol airplane jigs but with the good results I'm having and the fact Northland does not make the good airplane jigs anymore they have become the lure of choice for Pike. As for walleye I have noticed that when they are in sniff mode and won't hit many things they will hit the Chubby darter.Even the Crappies here on Upper Red gobble up the small Chubby Darters. Jim Hudson
BearThe Darters are a great jigging lure.. By far, they accounted for 90 percent of the walleyes I caught this year through the ice, including almost all of them over 26"... These baits are best used with a superline of some sort that has a cross lock snap connecting the line to the lure. To work them, just give them a quick upward snap of about 2 feet and let the lure settle on a semi-taught line. Follow the line down after your snap as most hits will occur on the drop of the lure. The lure is unique as it has a shimmering side to side motion on the decent that triggers the bite.. But, when fish are a bit finicky, working the bait more subtle by nodding the lure with just a shake of your wrist will get the lure moving in front of their face.. Doing this in conjunction with lifting the bait away from the fish usually will seal the deal.. A great bait that you will use 99% of the time with no bait attatched!! Badger_55
yeah I was wondering that too. I just took it out of my ice fishing box and placed in my summer box. Don't see why it wouldn't be as good as it is through the ice
