that's a little south for me. my area lakes are similar with florida strain largemouth and year round trout stockings. in fact a 14.48 pounder was caught last week. if castaic or casitas are anything like new melonies or don pedro, the water will be clear and deep. my lakes have no weed cover to speak of alot of deep rock points a little flooded timber. the lake i fish the most, you need to cover alot of water to get good numbers. the good spots only hold one or to fish. at least that is what i have found. i used to think i knew how to catch a bass till i fished these steep banked canyon resivours mad.gifcool.gif

You from Mn.? I lived in So. Cal. for 10yrs 1979 1989. caught lots a Bass, the res. are hard & different,When I was there it was all plastics worms mainly.A buddy & his wife fished together a lot,She always out fished him by throwin out to deep water with a live nightcrawler just let it lay on bottom. After he decided to try her method they could'nt be beat in tourneys!I'm the only one who knew how they fished. No boat for me so I'd tag along! Then he use plastics BIG WORMS drop to bottom & jig it worked. My biggest Bass is 16-1/2lbs,fishin that way out of lake Henshaw in the hills east of Escondido.TRY IT IT WORKS.20-40 ft.deep

i am an iowan who spent two years in winona and several summers on rush lake(ottertail co.). i moved out here about 4 years ago and will be moveing to lanesboro hopefully in 4 years. i was just fishing new melonies yesterday and caught 20 small bass, the females must be deeper as i was thowing a spinnerbait. i'll have to try the big worm thing, i've read that they used to do that in the early days of trophy bass hunting in cali. seems like now you've gotta throw a $20-30 swimbait. i assume by big worm, you're talking 10" and bigger. i am hoping to get a bass in the teens before we leave. cool.gif

Long drive from San Diego! Heres some closer spots resevoirs El Capitan,Lake Dixon by Escondido can shore fish & has fishin docks. Most water you cant walk & fish shore because its their drinking water Lake Henshaw,East of Escondido,Otay Res.South of SD,Its hard to rent boats cause these waters are only open to fish on weekends when they can be patroled for infractions and everyone and his brother are there.

Isnt it funny how californians set fads even for bass large swimmin bait now its the thing. ya 10" worms purple, black,Just drift & jig,Poindrops & where you'd think you would never fish! also by the deep water by the dam slow & easy open bail or freespool no drag on bait let em take it.For as many bass and big fish as Cal. is talked up to have they sure are hard to catch

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
