several years ago working for Mosquito Control - I had one of the nextel's they issued us go in the swamp at least a dozen times during the season. all I ever did was disassemble the case on the phone, take the battery out and let it dry on the dashboard for an hour or two, and it worked good as new. because of that I try to get Moto's whenever possible.

I actually was a national semifinalist a couple years ago on The Outdoor Channels win your own fishing show contest with this story... and it is true! I had my daughter with on East Graham Lake near Kinbrae Mn. and just got started in a small 4x8 on skids. Drilled holes, started to bait rattle wheels, and baited first genz worm and dropped it in just as the lure went down the slush came up the hole... so i grabbed the skimmer and started to clean out the hole when my glasses fell off my face and bloooooop, right down the hole (or should I say 8 inch magnet) My daughter freaked out and started bawling thinking she was in trouble and I went shoulder deep trying to get them as they fell, to no avail. Well I called my buddies in another shack and of course they laughed and I sent them to the truck to get my camera to see if I could find them on the bottom... When I got done calling them I went back in the house to see a bobber down in that hole and thought to myself... GREAT!!!! now is the only time I don't want to catch a fish! as I pulled up on the line and felt no real tension I slowly pulled it up to see my best friend the fathead wrapped around the bridge of my glasses nosepiece and pulled them up into the house....!!!!! Swear to fish god's that is a true story and I had witnesses to prove it. Surely luckiest day for me on the hard water!!!

I haven't had the chance to have something like this happen to me, but I do have a story about my buddy. He had just bought a new Thorne Bros Panfish Sweetheart that week before we went fishing. We were on the ice and the wind was blowing a little bit. He had put his rod on his fishtrap seat, house was flipped open and he went to drill us some holes. Meanwhile I had my house flipped closed and one side window open. All of a sudden I see him sliding on the ice and in one whole motion his whole arm goes down the hole. I flip my house over quickly and see what the commotion was. The wind flipped his house over and his new rod went right down the hole ooo.gif

He ties on this big ugly lure and starts to jig his way to the TB rod. After several minutes he is able to snag the rod by one of the guides and he reels up his new rod. Wheww...I really felt bad, yet really good that he was able to get his rod back!

I've lost a flashlight (small penlight), a slush dipper, and a rod holder, and the only one I got back was the rod holder. I was fishing a small lake, we were hammering the crappies and bluegills. Friend and I can't keep the fish off. We are sharing a minnow on a third hole. The ice buster on the third hole is slowly sinking. I overexcitedly reach for it and grab it to set teh hook. I clumsily knock the stand over into my buddies hole. Oh well, $2.50....well, his line goes taught like a bite and wouldn't you know it, he hooked it. The only time I've gotten something back....

A lady at work gave me an older phone that she had upgraded. It turned out to be the exact same phone that I had. Took my SIM card out, plugged it in, said a little prayer and... lights on and I am back in business. So now I can still use my chargers and everything. Total cost...nothing!! grin.gifgrin.gif

Has anyone invented a floating cell phone case yet? If so, I'll take two.

A couple of summers ago I was out riding around in the boat with my oldest dirtiest hat I had, a swift wind came up and blew it off of my head into the lake. I just considered it gone. About 2 weeks later I was out trolling raps, snagged a big tree branch nearby where I lost my hat. Pull it up to take my rap off and there was my hat stuck on the tree branch. I still have it though its a closet hat now.

They're out there. Just google "water proof cell phone cases." It should be the first one on the list. I think Nature Vision also used to sell them but I don't see them on their HSOforum anymore. I have 2 (after losing a phone and a 2-way down the hole). You can talk on them without taking the phone out.

I've "answered my phone in the rain" and had it "just quit". I was able to get a new one that way. Yes the battery showed it got wet but they understood, fiancee called, rainstorm, you know, really.

Good one! smirk.gif

I'll have to try that line out on the next time that this happens to me. I am sure that this wont be the last time something like this happens.

    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
