BobT
You know, that's a good point you bring up. There seems to be quite a bit of talk on this sight in support of PF and their efforts but I too tried to contact the local PF chapter and got no reply. I went so far as to become a member, hoping I could get some insight about habitat via their magazine. My thought was to see what I could do as a land owner to improve habitat. Seems the only way PF is willing to provide any information is if PF can gain financially. I have been truly discouraged. Bob
doser
Try to find a phone number of one of their chapter officers or board members. Maybe you'll get a better response.
snapcrackpop
BobT Sorry to hear about that, but with my club I would have to disagree. The main thing that drew me to PF is that as a chapter we are able to spend the dollars raised where we want. Memberships have to go to headquarters, but the rest (banquet dollars) can be spent locally(education, habitat improvement, youth, etc.) or sent up to national(unlike DU-all sent to HQ with no control; still a good org ). There are restrictions to how the dollars are spent, but otherwise I have found PF to be very generous and locally too! A usual request would be reimbursed up to 50% of your cost after the project has been approved. You can get a habitat person to come out and give you a plan of action (might be different than what you want) to improve your area. Go to www minnesotapf org or www pheasantsforever org and look up your chapter and pick a name to contact. Otherwise talk to the PF biologist in your area. Or maybe the guys on your chapter are stick-in-the-mud types? Hope not. You can contact me if you need any additional info. (Contact Us Please) OOPs, sorry. CodyDawg
Bob, Which chapter did you contact? Osakis straddles the border between two chapters. Also, remember, this is a strictly volunteer organization at the chapter level, so have some patience. Recently it was banquet time and volunteers are completely overloaded. I know one of the chapters in your neck of the woods, it just depends which county you are in. I know one of the things we like to say in our chapter is that we don't take complaints, we only take volunteers! In other words, come help fix the problem you have had. doser
Those of you that have recieved the recent(spring) edition of the PF magazine you will see what Snaps Chapter(McCleod) has done so far. Nice article in there and I see your Chpt. will be a focus on one of the PF TV shows in the future. Couldn't have a better guy as the spokesperson in that pic either with Virgil. The Mcleod Chapter borders my county (Sibley) so I see alot of what they have done over there. I wish we had the access $ of that sanitation business like them though with the matching dollars.....that's nice.P.S. Snap, Our chapter will have some of our board members help out at your banuet. Thanks for the help of those from your Ch. that helped at our banquet.
