dirtking
How is the ice up there? (LOTW - Sioux Narrows to Kenora) Is it thick, slushy, do you have much snow? Another question - can a person take a snow machine through whitefish narrows or is there open water there? Also can you go by sled over the portage from Sabaskong to Whitefish? Thanks Dirt
Wild Thing
Read the posts for Late February Morson updates. The ice is 4 feet thick, you will need an extension on your auger. There is now more than a foot of snow on the ice in most places, but no slush as of Sunday. More snow coming. There is a snowmobile trail into Whitefish, but avoid the thin ice or open water near Turtle Bay. Good luck!
Eastwind
As Wild Thing said you will need to avoid the thin ice in the narrows at the entrance to Turtle Lake. There is a short land trail in to Turle Lake just East of the narrows.

Hemlock
At Rendezvous Point? I beleive there's a land portage there, to avoid bad ice in Whitefish Narrows.
