Question

Thought my blades were getting dull, went in to EXCHANGE my blades, got a different pair wen out on to the lake and it wouldn't even go down an inch. I took them back and bought brand new ones a little better as in about four inches and then nothing. Maybe someone has an easy answer. Maybe dull center point? I don't know, but 250lbs. leaning on that thing is tough grin.gifany ideas anyone anyone?

Your auger pitch is out of whack.

Same thing happened to me. I brought it in and they put it on the jig and got the angles back where they should be.

And they let me know, DO NOT PUT FORCE DOWNWARD. Let the blades do the cutting.

I have seen numerous people with this problem on here. You would think they would reinforce the blades so the pitch doesnt get out of whack.......... Hmmmmm.

Luckily I am within 5 miles of the shop. Bemidji is a long ways to get it checked out. crazy.gif

I totally agree with NOT putting weight on the auger. My auger was new last year and the blades are still great. I drill through 30" of ice no problem. If you are pressing then the blades are either digging too much or you may have pressed them out of whack. I put zero weight on my auger and it cuts like a dream.

Pitch is key as BLB mentioned, but sharpness does play a big role. As your blades get dull, you'll find yourself leaning on the auger a bit. Even pressure is fine, but starting laying on it too hard, and you'll make it worse as noted by knocking the pitch out of whack.

I just got off the phone with strikemaster because my 2 week old 8" lm express gets hung up on the bottom of the ice, it cuts awesome until the bottom then it's like it hits a knot and gets hung up, anyways they are sending me new blades, the guy said it's a issue with the blade/bolt set up they put on some augers so they now have a different set up that should fix the problem.
