I like Ratfinkie jigs, flu-flu's, and plain hooks tipped with nothing.
Some of Lindy's ice jigs work dynamite too, and sinkers with hooks in them are unbeatable, and sometimes should be outlawed.
Colors very by water quality.

If bluegill are your fish of choice a marmooska is the jig of choice. Gets down fast, fishes way heavier than it looks, has a great sonar signal even deep and best of all, the fish say it tastes great and is less filling.

IndianaJim, you beat me to it on this one. My username answers that one. Any of those Russian/Finnish jigs from HT Enterprises are deadly on 'gills. Systems Tackle Fat Boys and Pounders are in a tie for second place. Rat Finkies come in third.

Fat boy, Genz worm, Pounder, Purist, Rat Finkee, etc, all work great. I also like ants. Not the new ants with hair for legs but the rubber legs! Gotta have the rubber legs. I usually use a split shot about 18" up so I can get an idea of where I am with the electronics. The ants dont show up too well. THey are light too. Helps ya get down faster. I like using light panfish jigs when the fish are really off. Slower drop can trigger more bites at times. But what about fav. panfish colors? I would say orange and glow combo.

For crappies: I like the moon-glo jigs, green/white with a red eye.

For bluegills: Usually something like the Genz worm, or lunar worm.

God, I can't wait to get out on the ice!!!!

Besides old standbys like Custom Jigs Rat Finkee and Comet, I gotta dabble in something new every year, don't you guys?

Lately, it's been the Redneck Hornet-- fishes like a rock and glows like the moon. Couple other new favorties include Northland's Forage Minnow Fry and Gapen's Micro Shrimp. Really like Custom Jigs Finesse Plastics as well-- think these babies might outfish livebait in some cases. We'll see!

I have to agree with Toad. I have a lot of "no name" jigs that I have acquired over the years that are some of my favorites. Most are no longer made or impossible to find. The only good thing is that when I was able buy them I did it in quantity. Don't be affraid to go back to the oldies but goodies.

That brings me to this point, if anyone believes that are really good at making panfish jigs and can reproduce or get close to reproducing a couple of non-existant jigs for me I would be very interested in talking to you. I am kind of particular though.ScottS

Custom Jigs n Spins are my favorite. Two-spots in green-glow, red, orange, and mustard. My ice tackle box is loaded with Custom Jigs n Spins tackle. Systems Tackle Fatboys and Pounders are good too. Ohh, and don't forget those plain hooks when the fish go negative.
Good Fishin, Matt.
