H20 Cigarette Adapter problem...any ideas?

Krebber

Question

Here's the deal...The thread/pin at the end of the lighter-adapter must have come loose and fallen out...along with whatever was inside - I'm guess a spring and a 3-volt fuse, or so says the manual. Checked with local auto and RadioShack-type shops. Both said they don't carry similar style adapters or replacement parts. I emailed Lowrance seeking assistance but have yet to hear back. Meanwhile, any suggestions on how to fix/replace just those missing parts? I really don't want to spend $30 or so on an entire adpater for what I expect are $5 in parts. Thanks for any help!

Eurolarva...Thanks for the pix. It shows what's missing. And the fuse details are great, too! I'm still looking for ideas, though, on what to do about the two parts on the left of your pix. Those are MIA. Thanks again, though...the photo makes it much easier to show/explain!

No problem. I can give you a better detailed one if you email me at [email protected]. I kicked the resolution down pretty low when I put it on my FTP site. Just a word of warning. I hooked mine up to my cigarette lighter socket and tested the output voltage and it is only 3.4 volts not 12 volts. Either the cigarette adapter or the connector part that hooks up to the H2O has a voltage adaptor. Radio shack probably has replacement lighter adaptors but I would be concerned with using it because it will probably put 12 volts into the H2O which is not good. Call lowrance and tell them what happened. They might send you free parts. It is kind of a cheezy design. Mine did the same thing about a month after I got it. Lucky for me I found the parts.

I don’t know if you found the parts you need but if you go to Fleet Farm. In the automotive section look for the Universal accessory plug. Take the parts you need and throw the rest away. I picked one up for $1.29 for something else this weekend and tried it on my Ifinder and it worked for me all weekend.
