How bad do I need an Underwater TV?

We bought the Aqua-Vu with the temp gauge and I love it. I went in with a friend who I fish with a lot so it brought the price down to 200 each. We have used it on many lakes this winter and it rocks! We have seen walleyes nail some little perch, watch a northern come in and tear our lure off, have had some bass come in and look right into the camera. It was better than catching fish.

We used it last fall and located some huge walleyes hanging out in some boulders at 35 feet. We ended up catching three of them ranging from 24.5-26". The boat next to use caught two, one was 27 and the other was 29. All caught and released!

The camera has just added another way of seeing fish relate to structure. We have found it useful when we graph fish on the bottom and then lower the camera down to see what they are.

It has been a fun toy and the kids love it!

If you'd like to see the Vista Cam you can see it at:
http://fishingminnesota.com/vista-cam/

The Combo Cam is a great ice fishing tool. Mount your vexilar right in it and view your depth finder as well as the Underwater TV.

Now you can see what your Vexilar is trying to show you.

One idea might be to rent one for a weekend to see if you indeed do like one enough to lay down that kind of cash.
The bait shop here in Mankato rents them out. Not 100% sure of the price, but I think it was like 20 or 25 bucks a day. 2 or 3 guys, 50 bucks for the weekend.... looks like a lot cheaper way to see if you like one or not to me.
I need to get my FL-18 before I get a cam, but thought I would pass along the idea anyway.

Seeing Mod's and staff goin for the first time and some of the very old junk!

Here is a link I start from time to time. When the site slows down, I like to read old post's.

Here is one of the old area's I like to start!

That's a cool link!

I like this post:

Avoid Owatonna Gas Stations. They are at $1.80/gal. Faribault which is 15 miles north is at $1.57/gal.
Kwik Trip is in both towns and has the same gas supplier for both areas. You guessed it, they are keeping the prices in line with the others in town.
Stay away from Owatonna Gas Stations.

    • Sounds pretty sweet, alright. I will check them out, thanks.
    • If you really want to treat your wife (and yourself) with a remote operated trolling motor, the Minn Kota Ulterra is about easy as it gets. Auto stow and deploy is pretty awesome. You just have to turn the motor on when you go out and that the last time you have to touch it. 24V 80lb. 60 inch shaft is probably the right length for your boat. They ain’t cheap - about $3k - but neither one of you would have to leave your seat to use it all day.
    • Wanderer, thanks for your reply. I do intend for it to be 24 volt, with a thrust of 70-80. Spot lock is a must (my wife is looking forward to not being the anchor person any more). With my old boat we did quite a lot of pulling shad raps and hot n tots, using the trolling motor. Unlikely that we will fish in whitecaps, did plenty of that when I was younger. I also need a wireless remote, not going back to a foot pedal. We do a fair amount of bobber fishing. I don't think I will bother with a depth finder on the trolling motor. I am leaning toward moving my Garmin depth finder from my old boat to the new one, just because I am so used to it and it works well for me. I am 70 years old and kinda set in my ways...
    • Dang, new content and now answers. First, congrats on the new boat! My recommendation is to get the most thrust you can in 24V, assuming a boat that size isn’t running 36V. 80 might be tops? I’m partial to MinnKota. How do you plan to use the trolling motor is an important question too. All weather or just nice weather? Casting a lot or bait dragging? Bobber or panfish fishing? Spot lock? Networked with depth finders? What brand of depth finders?
    • We have bought a new boat, which we will be picking up this spring. It is an Alumacraft Competitor 165 sport with a 90 horse Yamaha motor. I will be buying and installing a trolling motor, wondering if I can get some recommendations on what pound thrust I will want for this boat? Also, I will be selling my old boat, is there a good way to determine the value on an older boat ( mid-80's with a 75 horse 2-stroke Mariner motor) I will appreciate any help with these questions.
    • Sketti... not out of a jar either!
    • Lol yeah I watched that
