Minn Kota Questions

Question

I'm taking a harder look at Bow Mounts for this season. From what I can see, Minn Kota doesn't offer a Bow Mount Maxxum with auto-pilot. This means that I have to choose between the Terrova and the PowerDrive V2 if I want auto-pilot. I am limited to 12 volts so the maximum thrust I could run is 55#.

From what I can see, the difference between the two is that the Terrova has a better stow and deploy system and maybe a fancier foot control. The price difference is about $200. That's a couple of batteries difference. Am I missing something? Does anyone have any experience with the Powedrive V2? Thanks

They are both great units. The new Terrova is much easier to stow and it locks into the stow position. The motor is centered on the vertical shaft to make it easier to stow and deploy. The new universal sonar attachment point is shielded to prevent interference with depth finders.

The Terrova is brand new this year I believe. I am sure it will be a good unit but of course it is yet prooven. I just think it has similar features to a Genesis which was a bust fro Minn Kota. The normal power drive auto pilot will suit your needs just fine and it should save you some money. They still stow and deploy very easily.
