Yesterday Dennis Steele of Minnesota River Guides caught and released this 49.7 Lb flathead yesterday in a Metro Area of the Minnesota River.

This baby is still swimming and Dennis assures me there are many more 30-60 lb flats swimming in the Minneosta River.

Nice Cat Dennis!!! If you ever have some free-time I'd be real interested in chaseing some of those kitty cats with you. That thing would eat the channels we catch here for lunch!!!

I think Dennis found a new pattern for big cats.

Small baits for big cats......

Here is another flatty taken with Dennis by Jim W using a jig and leech on 6lb test while fishing for eyes on saturday in the same area. This one went 28lbs

I see Jim is proudly wearing his camo FishingMinnesota.com Logo cap. Cool

Taking into account all of the dimensions of this photo this fish has nearly the same girth as the individual holding it! Knowing Dennis, I should think that it must have gone well OVER 49.7!

Just joshin' ya' man! That is an awesome big cat. I wish I could've been there to see that one! You figure that one was bigger than the one we caught last spring? We never weighed that fish last year, but it seemed longer and huskier than this fish.

Congrats Dennis. Give me a call when they start to go again, and you've got a couple hours free. We'll gather bait and have a "go" at em'again.

"Great fish Dennis"!!!!!!
What's even more appealling is the fact that
the beast is still swimming and reaping havoc out there!
