pisces
Saw this in the stores: Rapala battery run hook sharpener, kind of a pistol grip thing with slots for the hook point under a pull down collar. Any opinions, reviews?? Will they handle heavy (musky)hooks?
Northlander
I had one and couldnt stand it. Couldnt get a 3 sided sharpening on my hooks to save my life. A hand file works best for me.
bigdog
For heavy hooks I cemented two chainsaw files together. Used metal epoxy on each end. Works great and only cost a couple of dollars.
wasssit
a small fine hand file works for me. I tried that battery power sharpener and ruin a few hooks with it.
S.D. Ice Angular
Yep!!!! I got hooked myself (pardon the pun) I bought one of those last year and I was not able to finish a sigle musky lure with 2 trebles on it. The stone was just chewed up and the thing was shot. Had to go back to manual labor.
DougSpringBay
Rapala makes some great baits don't they??Some things just have to be done the ole'fashioned way.Kinda like the Flying Lure or Banjo Minnow, heh!Doug

Ufatz
As neccessary as the electric hammer or the hydraulic pencil or the windup chisel or the battery operated nail punch. You get the idea. But HEY....its a free country and you can do whatever you like with your money.
fishhook8
Tip: Steal your wifes diamond coated finger nail file. They work great. Cost about a $
esquired
I tried a few different hand and powered hook sharpeners. What still does the best job is the hand file and stone. (I feel the same way about power knife sharpeners, stone and steel for me thanks)
