Voyager canvas

Smacker

Recommended Posts

I recently bought a Voyager and after setting up and fishing out of it once I noticed that there appeared to be thin spots in the canvas. Everywhere there was a crease in the fabric from being packaged it appeared to be thin. Light could easily be seen through these.

Just wondering if this is normal for a while or a defect? has anyone else had this? confused.gif

Last year after I purchased my voyager I notice one spot on the canvas. I called clam and they said to right a letter to them with a picture or two. About 4 weeks later i received a brand new canvas in the box, no questions asked. Excellent service. Just put that canvas away for know till the current one wears out or gets torn badly.

Same here on the 5600. However, I don't set it up to dry though after each use. Don't have a garage for one thing...I don't know if I could get clam to do that for me - I have no idea where the receipt is.

Well, I talked with a representative from Clam Corp. last night. I pretty much got the "sorry, we can't do a thing" comment. Says that it is normal to have thin spots and areas that are almost see through confused.gif Recommends using some kind of sealant to the inside of the canvas for cosmetic purposes. I must say that I am kind of disappointed in the service frown.gif Oh well

I second the issue on the service.I purchased an x-2 house and when i started putting it together i noticed i did not have any instructions and the support rods were missing.Called them and they said the would send them out next day. After i waited a week for my parts without showing up i called them back and the said they were not shipped yet.I went there and picked them up myself or who knows how long it would have taken. When i asked why they were not shipped they said they were busy.I left without saying any thing and told myself on the way home i would have a tough time purchasing any of their products again.Burl.

I haven't noticed this on mine (bought 12/5/06) but what I have noticed is every where they stitched anything like the license holder or reflective strips there are large pin holes like they use an extremely large needle. Hope this doesnt start to open up. I have looked at some in the store since and noticed it on them also so I just figured that to be normal.

I guess tomorrow I will look for thin spots.

I have them "starter" holes also. I know in my house i don't have to "look" for thin spots... they are the first thing you notice. I still can't believe they won't do anything, but thats life I guess. Clam Corp. did say to takle pics and document the phone conversation because there is a year warranty on the product.

I wonder if the thin spot isn't really just a thinner coating of that black stuff on the inside of the fabric? On my shacks that are 2 and 3 years old I don't have that black coating on the inside and I don't notice any thin spots at all. Those stitching holes yes, but not thin spots. Just a thought guys. Let me know what you think.
