ssaamm
Have lately caught a few walleyes on a lake north of Jenkins with some stained or dark water. The best bite seems to be from around 4-5:30. The one night I went out later-- around 9:30pm, I had no luck-- just a few crappies. In your opinion do you folks think that the day bite is better on darker water lakes vs. the real clear ones? Am I wasting my time trying to catch walleyes at night on a darker water lake. I work during the day so it's tough to get out at prime time. thanks for the input.
PerchJerker
There are a couple of dark / stained waters that I fish (or used to fish) on a regular basis. Morning and evening prime times are best, sometimes the day bite is good, the night bite is pretty much non-existant. One of them in particular you could almost set your watch by when the walleyes started and stopped biting right around dusk.Still, I wouldn't give up on the night bite after just one trip. I'd try it a couple more times before throwing in the towel, especially if you got a few crappies for some action while waiting for the walleyes. Good luck. Team Otter
In stained water, often times fish will suspend during the evening hours. I would focus my efforts well off the bottom in the late evening hours.
james_walleye
Something alot of people dont think about but i know it has an impact is paying attention too the moonrise. It can trigger the bite too happen in the middle of the night especially on a stained water lake.
witter1631
I nite fish stained water all the time near wausau. we fish in very shallow weeds anywere from 2 fow to 6 fow water we also fish shallow stump feilds with very good luck. we look particulary those types of structure next to deep water or were you would normally catch walleyes. so try those areas once they may work for you.Good LuckMatt Witter
