I think it's funny how short their doors are, why did they make em so short?

Like they were worried about heat retention, or something. I think it's funny how the guy is down so low, looks like he just came up the basement steps or something... grin.gif Kylersk, that is an absolute classic.

I was just thinking that some of all this fancy stuff in the houses like tv, dish, stove and bunks has taken away from some of the adventure of the ice fishing experience. I seem to recall that a "shanty" is a crudely build hut. I have yet to see a cruedly built hut on this forum. Including mine. I would think that back then, you were a little more proud of your catch as it was a lot more work. You never want to forget that stuff. You do want to forget, frozen feet, long walks to the house, chipping a hole through the ice. I can't imagine what it was like.

That's probably why fishing was better back then! Think about it...not so many people out there with electronics, they weren't out there for as long of periods of time, etc. I wish I could have grown up in that era!

Like fishing out of a doghouse, I remember wearing boots like

that well. Frozen toes were a given back then. Geez it hurt so

much when they thawed back out. Never again. Those old wood

stoves were something to. Either you were roasting or freezing.

Insulation, well most homes back then didn`t even have it. grin.gif
