How was the Tourney down in kato land this past weekend? Any brutes caught?

I went down and fished the area last night. 2 channels, top being 13 pounds and a bunch, I mean a bunch of small flats. One of the flats was already hooked. It had about 20 yards of what looked like XT solar (maybe 25 pound test). I had to pull it and the small tree that it was wrapped up in to the boat. It had severly cut the fish's mouth up. I am surprised that he still was eager enough to chomp on my creek chub. KInd of makes ya think twice about what happens to a cat when you lose one to a snag.

I stopped down at Rapidan Dam last night for a Dam Burger, fries, malt and pecan pie.(BURP!)

I heard the contest went very well. Close to 500 entries I guess. I was going to try and make it to the weigh in but was too late. I guess they weighed the fish at Sibley Park and released them right away. I don't know how many big ones came in or how big they were but being they all got released at Sibley...hint,hint.

I also heard next year it will be a two night contest.

I fished the bobber shop contest, and they only had 145 people entered.
we entered 2 flats - 37.60# took 2nd and a 31# that took 5th. We also let a 28# flat go because we thought that it would not win anything. (it turns out that we were right)

The Biggest flat that was caught was 40.75# -caught by someone from Iowa (Garr was his last name)

The biggest Channel was a little bigger then 15#, but it payed back $575.

They said all the cats brought in swam off when released, but only 1 took a little extra time.

Since they only payed out to 6th place alot of people called in to see if they had a chance at money and if they did not they released their cats instead of bringing them in.

Hey Hubcat, Good Job! The river is starting to look real nice down there...Can't wait to wade around the Blue Earth outlet.

I must have heard the guy wrong about the number of entries. Its probably more fun without so many people anyway.

It was a zoo! Every little spot that you could possibly bank fish from had 3 people on it it also looked like the alot of people left alot of garbage behind! I didn't fish the tourney but tonight I'm gonna fish the Blue Earth a few hundred yards up stream from Sibley.

Dennis and I fished dwon stream from Kato last night and got a 4 flats a couple of channels and a big stick. I caught the stick and I was the designated net boy for Dennis since he did most of the catchin!LOL Thanks Dennis I enjoyed fishing with you. Just let me know when you want me to come up there to net your fish.

Tight Lines!

Its good to hear that all the fish swam away! smile.gifSounds like they ran a decent contest.

I had fun fishing with rushing the day night after.Good to spend some time with you in the boat rushing.I am sure it won't be the last.
The water was low downstream of the launch but we had no problem making it down in the River Pro and I got the opportunity to fish some very nice new water. We got a few flatties but nothing too big and a couple channels. The weather was very nice after the cool front went through and made for a very enjoyable time on the water.
