Marcum problem.....

Question

Hi everyone-

I'm just testing out gear to hopefully get out there this afternoon. I had the battery disconnected all summer, and I plugged it in last night to charge. It read 100% on the DCS this morning. However, when I unplug it, the DCS display goes blank.

When I turn it on, I can hear the unit running, but none of the lights on the display, or the controls lights up. Do I just need a new battery, or is something wrong with the unit itself?

Thanks!

I did the same thing last year myself. Except I left the DCS monitor hooked up all summer. It drained the battery down so far that it could not be recharged. So I had to replace the battery. I think the DCS would be ok. I don't suppose you have a extra battery that you could hook up try the charger out on do you?

sounds like thats what it is, mine would do about the same, except after plugging in it would barely get a reading, although everything still worked.Mine was about 5 years old when I finally replaced it, although I did charge a couple times too, during the off season, not sure if they made a diff. or not. replaced battery and everything was fine, atleast them batteries are cheap.

Something you might be able to try is using a regular car type charger. Put it on the 10 amp range for about 5 minutes and then on 2 amp for a half hour or so and then start process over. I have had some success in reviving some batteries of similar style. The product that I pulled the batties from had a compterized circuit that would do this automatically. Something about blasting the built up sulfides from the plates when you do this. As I said, I have had SOME success in doing this.
