What a great show!

I went down Friday night, pulled right into the RiverCentre ramp no problem and paid my (gasp!) $15 to park. Oh well. I met a few friends at the show and made the rounds, chatted with Matt J. in Thornes, Jnelson at Thornes, Northlander & Paul W. at the Nils booth, and I think that was the only FM guys I met.

The booth I found really interesting was the Mormyshka lures booth. You'd have had to be paying attention to notice there booth, but these lures are pretty serious pieces of tackle in the ice fishing world, we just don't know much about them yet.

Saturday found me back at the show for the entire day and I was working in the Otter booth until about 6pm. It was a lot of fun and got to talk to a lot of fisherman. Although I must not be as identifiable as MJ because the only guys that stopped to talk with me were guys I knew already. Nice to see you Borch, Captain BRK, bhorn, Aquajoe, and Briank!

I think the highlight of my show though was talk'ing with last years North American Ice Fishing Champion Tony Boshold. Tony is also a member of Team USA in the Ice Fishing World Championship. We chatted about competitive ice fishing, tackle, and all sorts of stuff. It was a pleasure to meet you Tony and Good Luck!

Reed's seems to be champ yet again this year for the best price slingning I could find. Toward the end of the show the other booths would refer to them as if I would find out what Reeds price was and then demand a price break. Is this show the best ever and if not who even comes close. Love the ice show and all the great vendors that show and all the great new ideas too. This is was the year or the weed and the SOS guys did a great job displaying and showing via vidio their product. Good thing I got there at 1pm otherwise I would have spent the whole day there and really got in some trouble from the Event Coordinator at home.

Husband and I both had a good time at the show. Reeds is our favorite. Managed to get a Fish Trap X2, cover, runners, hitch, and a pair of Ice Armor mittens for an even $650 from them on Saturday! Worst part of the show: Parking, $10. Oh well, it was worth it. Will look forward to the show again next year.

I wanted to take a second and thank everyone at Thorne Brothers, specifically Josh, John, and Matt. They did one heck of a job making sure I got set-up with a GPS and all the goodies at a great value. My friend and I also got some great deals on jigs, lures, hats, and line at the end of the day Sunday. They are #1 in my book and even though I live in Bloomington they are now my outdoors store from now on. Again thanks guys.

Did not make the show this year. My major purchase this year was a Marcum LX-5 and I got that at Joe's instore sale on Saturday($460 out the door including tax). The problem I have found at the show in the past is that all the stores are price protecting their major items. All the "Ask for Show Special" tags drive me nuts when its really just the same price as everybody else. I have not had great luck getting the "Show Specials" maybe you need to be there at the end to get a deal?

With lots of people starting to go LED lighting in their fishhouses I would assume some manufactures have picked up on this and started to produce some lighting proiducts that are LED, but better than the rope lights. Anything to report on the LED front?

What were your favorite new ideas, gizmos, doodads, and so on. I like seeing what the smaller manufactures bring out that you normally don't catch in the big box stores right away. Lets hear about some of them. I was unfortunatley unable to make it to the show.

shocked.gifshocked.gif Really?! That is a killer deal. The house alone retails $650 and your complaining about parking fees crazy.gif

After seeing Jiggin-Matt using the knot tier last year and being done in seconds while I fumble around for minutes tying knots I bought two of them. I then went home and retied a few lures on just for practice. Well worth the money for me!!

    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
