running batteries in parallel

Ryan_V

Question

I have been looking at a generator for the fish house(s). the one's I want are severely out of reach pricewise. My question is.....if I have a bunch of batteries, could I hook them in parallel in the back of my truck, get a large inverter and plug into the fish house??? I have the batteries, just need the inverter if this would work.

You can hook them up + to + and - to -. Not sure with the cord and inverter though. I've got 2 deep cycles in my house that are connected parallel. I run a 400W inverter for the TV & DVD Player. I picked up a Coleman 1800W generator at Home Depot for $329 for charging them.

Yep, parallel will keep you running 12 volt and combine your available amp hours of all the batteries in use. You may lose a little bit of the amp hours jumping across the bridges hooking them in parallel but the loss will be pretty insignificant.

I saw that it got deleted. Just trying to help you out. Its (Contact Us Please) then that. Your sister thinks I'm on this all the time also. But I do do some teaching during the day unlike her!!!!! Give the guy a call, talk to him. He is a very nice guy and willing to help a fisherman out anytime. Good luck. I'm lucky that I can use my dads Honda on the ice. KOOBA
