Bear taken by Combine near Hutch!

I recieved these pics in an e-mail from my dad. He said his General managers neighbor ran into this problem. Evidently he was combinding corn the other day and got stuck and thought he fell into a badger hole or something.(Bear Den) When he walked to the front of the tire he saw a black paw sticking out and later the head. Needless to saw the bear wasn't happy. The bear was stuck and the DNR told him to shoot it. Here are a few pics. I guess I don't need to head way up north to hunt bear anymore. Anyone from the Hutch area hear about this?

This didn't happen near Hutchinson. It happened in Polk County near St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin. It was in the Country Today newspaper in Wisconsin along with another story of the same thing happening close to this incident. Happened two days apart. The farmer that was driving the combine has never shot a bear so he asked a neighbor to do it. The bear was growling and they figured it was injured pretty badly. They are going to have a rug made from the hide. My dad does custom combining and once in awhile they will see these holes. The bear digs a hole and then pulls a bunch of corn stalks in to cover it. The bear in the picture was a little over 300 pounds. The other bear weighed 540 pounds, both males. That one also had to be shot. Never know what you will find in the middle of a cornfield.

I got the same email and pictures from my father-in-law last week and he said it was a personal friend of his who lives south of Rochester!

Funny, I took the pictures by Fergus Falls and sent them to a friend in Baudette, It was 2 years ago and the CO said to call Chuck Norris to subdue the bear while we backed up.
