Bryce
Ray, always up for a hunt but Dec. is pretty much committed to SoDak... if I ever get laid off.Eagle, no yellows. Only pretty chocolates with a few blacks. While my dogs will "lock up" on birds momentarily, I haven't pushed the point issue. Can't say that I'm overly impressed with the looks of dogs being produced by breeders of pointing labs. Have seen a lot of chatter about the Sauk breeder. Nothing bad to say about them in that chatter.
Ray Esboldt
Bryce,Does Jezebel do a momentary lock on birds? Diamond does the same thing, especially when she circles back on a bird. It's pretty cool. Unfortunately, every time she has done it a hen jumps up or I whiff on a rooster. I have no desire or know how on how to develop it, but it sure is fun to see. It must be in their blood.
eagle_3464
Sounds like we could get quite a crew together to work those large WMA's.Bryce, thanks for the info. Nothing at all against those chocolates but girlfriend and I both have that yellow preference. Sauk River appears to have good dogs but WOW!!!! some of their pups are as much as $1200 already. Maybe thats becoming the norm for a pup froma well established breeder???
Bryce
Ray,We are really limiting Jezebel's exposure to pheasants with her field trial potential but with limited exposure, I would say yes. Choards would definitely be trainable to point. I often have to command her to hunt em up when I can tell a bird is right in front of her. Momma Docker was probably the best wild bird dog I have ever hunted over. That may sound biased but I have shot roosters over hundreds of dogs and that old girl just knew what the roosters were thinking. Looks to be carrying over in the bloodlines.Eagle, Like I say have heard nothing but good about them and that comes from other sites as well (no bashing here, they might become a sponsor). $1200 sounds high but if owners are waiting in line, more power to 'em. Thinking my little girl has to put on quite a show this spring in the field trials to command prices like that.
Eric Wettschreck
Labs, season is almost over. Any chance on you making it out this way or do we chalk it up as a wash????By the way, I have plenty of Pabst in the garage if that adds motivation. LABS4ME
Boilerguy, I don't think it's gonna happen. As usual I worked way too much and hunted way to little. I know I said it last year, but we'll definitley get out next year. Do you ever get weekdays off? A lot of times I can muster up a day trip on a weekday... It sometimes is easier for me than weekends. When does MN close? I may not be out yet, unless it's the end of the month... What are the chances I'm gonna get you up ice fishing? I still have 2 houses on Red... I know you and your boys like to ice fish. I need to start getting some time off in the fall... winter is no problem for me to take some time off. Unfortunatley this make 3 years in row where I didn't get out to hunt pheasants in MN... At least I still got to squeeze in some grouse, ducks (twice ) and a trip to SoDak. pheasant hunting... I may even get out the 1st week of Jan. to finish off my SoDak license. Good Luck! Ken
Eric Wettschreck
Dude, I'm not sure but I think Ringnecks are done in MN Jan 1. Sooooooooooooo, this year is pretty much a wash. I hear ya aboot working way too much and hunting way too little. Story of my life, man.Odds are pretty darn good we can get up to Red, especially if there's a place to stay. For us that's pretty much half the battle. We've got a couple of trips planned this year for Winnie. None for Red, sooooooooooooo how's aboot dropping me an e-mail and lets set something up. I'll bring the Pabst.I'll be fishing Matt Johnsons Ultimate panfish tourney on Linwood Lake this weekend. Taking off Friday after work and spending the weekend at my big brothers place in Bethel. I grew up about 1/2 mile from the landing so it's kind of a going home thing for me. If you're not doing nothing come on out.

We'll definitley get something lined up and soon! Good Luck on Linwood, show 'em how it's done.Good Luck!Ken

Eric Wettschreck
The weekend of the 17th me, the boys, and my hunny will be camped out on Winnie. The weekend after that is slabfest. I'm staying with a few other dudes at a resort type thing. If nothing else, we'll definately hook up on the ice and put the smack down on some slabbernockers and eyes.
