Well, this hermit guy used the system to his benefit, so if I were you I would use the system to YOUR benefit.

Document all of the incedents that occour with this neighbor and call him in to the local CO as well. There are laws against hunter harrassment and if he gets a stern warning from the CO, he may just stop or at least find a different way to annoy you.

The funny thing about this whole ordeal is last Friday I was talking to the other group of hunters that hunt next to us and they told me they have been hunting the area for the last 60 years and it has been an on going thing with this guy. They told me that this guy would be leaving your hunting group alone this year because he is ticked off at them. From what they told me one of their kids was out in the woods on a wheeler and when he came out this guy was standing at the end of his driveway with a gun in his hand and yelling at the kid to stay off his freaken property. Which he was not on in the first place. Like I said this guy has many issues and to have strange people out close to his land he is getting a little over protective. After talking with these guys I guess they call 911 on him and reported the gun insident. So I'm sure he was PO and figured he would get back at them by reporting to the CO that they were baiting. Well like someone else posted maybe this will be the end of it for this year anyway and we can get out and hammer some deer this weekend. The saga continues. The scary thing is when is this guy finally going to snap and hurt someone or when is the time going to come when you head out to your stand in the dark and he jumps you.

One thing I'm surprised hasn't been said yet, correct me if I'm wrong, is that Eventhough the CO interrupted your hunt that one day, every time he checks you or someone else in the area and finds nothing wrong it is one more false complaint in his case against the hermit. If he does his job correctly and catalogs unfounded complaint after unfounded complaint until he has a huge list of them it will definately stick once he cites the hermit for hunter harrassment and it goes to court. Plus with the plea-bargaining way our justice system works in the hermit would likely still have serious enough consequences if he pleas half of them down to stop his actions and learn to leave you alone. The way it sounds he has a good case to put the guy in jail for a while to think about things. I hope to god this hermit never hurts anyone as paranoid/protective as he is. I am glad I don't hunt next to anyone like him. Good luck.
