No tyvek, is this a problem?

Was back home a couple of days a few months ago and put metal sheeting on my fish house. I did not however put any tyvek or moisture guard between the the 2x4s and the metal sheets. Is this going to cause me a lot of problems? I have yet to put up the new insulation. Is there anything that I can do to prevent a potential problem from arising without ripping off the metal sheeting and starting over? Would sprayed foam insulation be the route to go?

It might cause a moisture problem inside. It is always a good idea to do a vapor barrier of some time. Are you going to do some kind of paneling on the inside or just leave it 2X4. If you are doing a paneling I would put some form of vapor barrier on behind the paneling. If not you will probably be ok. Spray foam would probably work really good too.

I don't see a real problem here. I would certainly line the inside with poly for a vapor barriere but I wouldn't loose sleep over not haveing house wrap on.

There have been many older houses that were built before house wrap was even thought of and they are still standing. It may take more to heat them but that would be about it.

As far as spray in insultation, it would definatly seal up the cracks. It is also much more expensive. My self I would just install styrofoam and go fishing.

To my understanding house wrap such as Tyvek is not used for vapor protection. It is used as a wind barrier and in fact they feature breathability. That is, Tyvek and other brands of house wrap provide a barriear against wind penetration but allow moisture to escape.

tyvek and others act much like gore tex in clothing. it allows moisture from inside to escape without allowing outside moisture to penetrate. it does also act as a wind barrier to help cover seams etc, but its main purpose is as a water/vapor barrier.
