MIKE IN lINO III
Looking at getting a dehydrator for making jerky. Which ones are the best? I'm on a budget of $100. Mike
Deitz Dittrich
I Have picked up a few at garadge sales over the last few years.( I have 3 now, and all different brands).. and to be honest... they all seem to work the same. Just be sure that yours has a fan.. That is the one important thing!
boxcar46
I have 2 of the american harvest dehydrators. Their round and come with 4 trays. I bought 2 extra for each one and can get close to 3 lbs of jerky in each one. I bought the jerky gun which looks like a grease gun. WORKS GREAT. Takes anywhere between 6 to 8 hours to dry. It all depends on how lean the meat is. Hope this helps.boxcar46
DTro
I've used the AH's as well and they work. Check with "Valve" I think he's got some commercial ones at a steal. Your best bet for sure.

B. Amish
i just got one from fleet farm on clearance for $35. i believe the model is the nesco american harvest snackmaster encore. i also got a jerky gun and am very happy with both of them so far. i've made several batches of jerky from ground goose breasts and they have only taken 3 hours per batch. made them with hi-mountain jerky mix..... jerky was excellent
