caught some in 8-12 feet trolling number 5 jointed shad raps. nothing else worked but them. This was over a week ago when the water temp. was about 56 so not sure what's hot with all this cold weather hitting.

How about walleyes in the morning right through the middle of the afternoon? (rhetorical question there)

We had the Southcentral Fall get-together today and it was a pretty decent bite in some tougher conditions. Cranks and rattletraps in 2'-6' of water adjacent to and over gravel and rock ruled the roost today, both trolled and casted. Live bait was a dead issue. smirk.gif Got my first fall walleye ever today (nice 18.5" fish) on a red/black rattletrap (yet another first). Many FAT fish in the 18" - 22" range were caught with these techniques at these depths. LOADS of fun! grin.gif

Water temp down here ranged from 42 - 49 degrees on the surface (which was warmer than the outside air!) grin.gif

Had a blast last week in the evenings wading out on the beach area on Silver lake by Hawley, Minn. Caught and released many walleyes between 20" and 28" about 4 a nite between 7and 8 o'clock. Silver and black X-raps!

Borch - Jay hooked one about 6" from the bank in a few inches of water and couldn't finish the deal but he crashed it hard you could here it a 1/2 mile out. He had it for a few seconds and couldn't budge him. Interestingly enough 3 years back a 31" was caught in that area smile.gif

32" that's a huge fish. Mine was 10lb's 30" on the button. One of these days I'll get a replica done when I have an extra 500 laying around. mad.gif

The colder it gets the larger the cranks I throw, nothing like slow crawling a big smithwick super roque for big fish.
