lawdog
Vickers caused it there is no doubt about that, but Jr. admitted he tried to block a little so he didn't run a straight line. He also admitted they were going to toast him and he wasn't going to be able to hold them off so he wasn't going to win anyway. Not that it matters cause he still could have run third and Jimmie first which would have been better for both, but only the Jr. fans are claiming he would have won...he didn't think so. LMITOUT
I for one am not claiming he would have won as I knew he was in a tough spot with the two cars behind him and I was just hoping they'd try a pass earlier to possibly give Jr. time to pass them back. I was happy to settle for a 3rd place finish.....if he would have got it. If there are those who are upset claiming a lost victory, well I doubt that would have happened. We'll never know, but I would hope that most are upset because of all the lost points rather than the "for sure" victory as we all know nothing is for sure on the last corner of 'Dega.Jr. blocked a little bit, but not enough to cause any problems. You can see that he started back up the track because I'm sure he knew it was pointless with the run they had around the inside. Other drivers if they were leading, namely the #48, would have run the passing car into the grass and cried "he was out of bounds" if they both didn't wreck. Been there, done that already. But as Eury Jr. said, Johnson has matured and won't do that anymore. right. They grilled Vickers tonight on Inside Nextel Cup. Pretty funny!! TNFL
The way I saw it.....25 had to follow the 48 when he pulled out in order to complete the run/pass on the 8. The 25 got too close and an UNINTENTIONAL ACCIDENT happened. And Yes, Vickers is a bad driver.
Sifty
I think Jr. knows that if he was'nt going to win he was atleast going to get third and they have been saying that they are looking big picture for the cup.It did look to me that he was pulling up and out of the way when Vickers hit Johnson.Sifty
VMS
I would say I have to agree with TNFL on this one. After looking at the replays over and over, (and maybe I just think I saw this), but it seemed that vickers was right on JJ's bumper and had gotten him just a tick loose when Earnhardt pulled back in line....JJ had to try to reallign, and went down the track to try and pass at the same time (which that little wiggle is enough to lose a bit of momentum) and hit the wind without the run on Earnhardt. Vickers came down to follow through, but was just not quite clear enoungh to get in line. Vickers is lucky he didn't take himself out as well...I guess I saw it as a racing incident... Maybe a bit too quick on the throttle (if that really can be possible at a plate track), but I don't think it was intended...I don't think Vickers is anything spectacular out there, but that doesn't make him a BAD driver either... just a little anxious.Steve
