lights in holes

if you have a battery system the best way to go is to mount trailer marker ights on the underside of your house. get the side marker lights, they are orange instead of red. another way to go if you have a generator is to mount track lighting on the ceiling and put the lights above the holes. if you mount the marker lights below just be carefull where you run your wire, I've seen guys freeze the wire into the ice and have it ripped out when you move. either way I say go for it. It is very nice to have your holes lit.. good luck I can't wait to see the bobber go down

I use those little landscaping lights for steps from home depot mounted above the holes. They are 12 volt that for landscaping purposes you would need to buy a converter, but not needed if you run off of 12 volt. The light bulbs are replacable, and you can buy replacement bulbs for cheap. Come with white 7 amp lights, I run with red 4 amp at night. I also wired each with its own toggle switch so of the 8 holes, I can only run the lights I need.

They also make replacement lights in green, amber, and blue. I wil be trying all this comeing winter for ease on eyes. the red was good, just never tried the others for effects on my eyes.

Here's what I did.

Went to Axeman and found some LED book lights for $1.50 and bought one for each hole. Then went to Radio Shack and bought some wall plugs. Mounted a wall plug over eack hole. Modified the reading lights with the other end of the mating wall plug. Now these reading lights were 4.5 volts so I also had to convert 12v to 4.5v. This converter I also found at Axeman for $5.00. They work slick, at dusk I pull the lights out of the cabnet and plug into what ever hole I am using. I will post pick if you would like.

the white ones arent too bright, but I feel that lights, or shadows changing with lights can spook a walleye. And for me, sleeping at night, the white ones tend to keep me awake. In my previous shack, I used those little red marker lights from any auto store. That red was brighter than the red bulbs I use now.
