Here's a lil something I found "browsing the net" tonight.

94552.jpg

It's new from AquaVu.

Standard Features Include:

7.2-amp 12-volt battery and battery charger with "quick-charge" access

Neoprene softcase with Velcro enclosure

200 kHz transducer frequency for maximum true resolution

18-degree transducer angle (equals 3-square feet of bottom coverage in 10 feet of water

Retractable transducer arm extends over ice hole or fits smoothly into softcase

1000-watts true RMS power

Target separation of less than 1/2-inch

Adjustable zoom can be targeted to view any segment of the water column

Adjustable sensitivity

10-level adjustable noise rejection

Auto range

Backlit night-glow display

"Ice Mode" heats LCD for continuous high-speed operation on the ice

Super low current draw for extended operation

Bass Pro has them listed for $229.00 Not a bad price provided they live up to their claims! Curious if anyone has seen these in person, or tried one? I'd be interested in hearing the pro's and con's of them as I'm in the market for something! Something=Marcum, Vex, Lowrance, or maybe this?

I dont think anybody has tried them yet as they just hit the market.. I hope to get one for this winter, they seem like a pretty slick unit for sure. I have a marcum LX-5 and love it... but I always have friends and such that go with me.. I think this will be an awesome back up unit, and has a great price!

Yet another electronic fish finder to hit the market...humm crazy.gif

I'm looking at the price point ($229) and not knowing much about this little unit, I would take a look at Marcum's LX-3tc , LX-2, or Cabela's MarCum VXR Flasher. All are a few more dollars, but all are solid options and have been on the market that are tried and true!

Dietz- if you get your hands on one, let us know how they work this year. I'd be interested to see how it performs.

I like the concept, but the problem I see it having is it not being stable. It looks incredibly tall and could tip over very easily. Its not very often when I'm fishing and the ice is smooth and even. Also it looks small enough to slip down the hole.

Here's a little more that I found:

Quote:

The Aqua-Vu VPG (Vertical Pixel Graph) offers a top-to-bottom high-speed liquid crystal display that matches the water column. No longer is it necessary to strain your brain or your eyes while attempting to read those confusing circular flashers. The water column isn't laid out in a circle-and neither is the VPG. It's the first ever high-speed LCD sonar that responds instantly to lure actions and fish movements.

I don't think it's all that confusing, use it for 2 minutes and you've got it. It's more about placement of lures relative to fish and structure than exact increments in the column.

The 1/2" separation is fine except for the resolution of the screen isn't going to be able to display the difference, in most deep water cases.

Flashers are inherently faster; I'd like to see how "instant" this is.

If you can come up w/ $230, you should scrounge up another $70 and get a flasher, IHMO.

It looks like a Zercom RTS to me except with zoom. I had a Zercom that worked nice for ice fishing but I upgraded to a Marcum. Either way, it sounds like a nice tool with the zoom and a decent price. Could be a very nice backup. Although I agree with the size and shape. It looks a little top heavy. Should be interesting to see what people have to say about it.

I can't speak for this unit, but I don't think a flasher is faster than my X67c. People who have never used one are quick to judge, but you can get fast data without a flasher.

Why don't they make underwater cameras with a recoil on them much like they have on those extensions cords that you mount on the ceiling of your shop? I think it would be nice if you were able to give the cable a tug and then it would reel itself up.

My dad has an x67c and my marcum lx-5 puts it to shame. It was much better than my Fl-8 though. It is definitely a nice unit but I would stick to a flasher unless you planned on using it on your boat also. Then I would go with the lowrance.

Yes, the LX5 probably puts it to shame, but the LX5 should because it costs $200 more than the X67c Ice Machine. I'm betting I could purchase the new 334c Ice Machine and it would be better than the LX5, but you're gonna lay down more ching, too. For about $300, the X67c does a helluva job.

Also, it's not LCD, it's TFT, which I have found to be unaffected by cold. And the battery life is phenomenal.

Not knocking flashers, just saying that some of the newer options out there do a fantastic job, too!

This unit is an LCD, and the screen heater means less battery life or slower display, or both. The TFT screens are a completely different beast, and I mean no disrespect to the Lowrance Ice Machines.

    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
