Hiya -

There are a couple of extremely important issues coming up with the MN DNR in regards to the MN Muskie program in the next few days. One is the meeting and open house regarding stocking on Gull Lake. The other is regarding a 48-inch minimum on Lake Miltona.

I'm going to be at the DNR HQ tomorrow for the Gull Lake open house. I hope as many of you as possible can either be there or at the meeting in Brainerd to show your support.

If you CANNOT make it in persone, PLEASE take a minute to send an email with your opinion.

For the Gull Lake proposal, send an email to [email protected]

For the Lake Miltona 48-inch minimum proposal, send an email to [email protected]

The deadline for comments on the Miltona proposal is the 7th of October, so do it TODAY....

You don't have to go on for pages - just a couple lines stating yuor opinion on the proposal, with your name and where you're from.

Thanks...public comment makes a huge difference in things like this, so it's important for everyone interested to chime in.

For those of you going to the DNR open house tomorrow - see you there...

Cheers,

Rob Kimm

I'm personally very new to much of this topic of muskie's, what is the issue regarding the 48inch limit on miltona?

And when you say you'll be at the HQ, i assume you're talking in Brainerd?

Hiya -

Jredig - The proposal on Lake Miltona is to increase the minimum size for muskies from 40 to 48 inches...

HQ - I'll be going to the open house at the DNR HQ in St. Paul.

Cheers,

Rob Kimm

I got an email back from Tim today, passing along his thanks for the email and the supporting voice. It nice to know every person's reply is heard and truly appreciated. Nice gesture on his part to reply.

How did the meeting and open house go? Anything of significance come as a result?

Thanks

Chris

I haven't heard much about St. Paul. But the meeting in Brainerd went pretty well. There was plenty of opposition, which was to be expected. But there were about 100 people in attendance, I would say it was about split between those in support and those opposed. Nothing has been decided yet and you still have until the 16th to have your support heard. So please take a minute if you haven't done so already. It's critical that the DNR hears from you. Just send Tim an email at [email protected] and let him know why you support the proposal. A minute of your time is all that it takes to help the future of our fisheries.

Aaron
