hanson
Matt Hughes baby!!! All I can say is that fight was absolutely awesome. BJ Penn darn near dominated Matt for 2 rounds. Hughes just could not get the take down on Mr. Rubberlegs. Its crazy sick how flexible BJ is. Matt kept working & working for that takedown since that is his game. BJ kept sprawling out of it and Matt just could not get him down. With about a minute left in round 2, BJ had Matt in a choke & an armbar that Matt perservered through until the bell. Round 3, BJ was done for though, totally gassed and just stood there taking shots. Matt took him down and it was text book Matt Hughes after that. Awesome!Jens Pulvers comeback in the lightweight division was upset real quick.Rashad Evans from the Ultimate Fighter continues to impress.Loiseau & Swick was also pretty good. Not sure if Swick is ready for a title match though.Sounds like Georges St. Pierre & Hughes is upcoming.
rosspj59
I give Hughes credit for staying with it and working hard. I am looking forward to Tito and Shamrock on cable TV the 10th. What happened to Rich Franklin? He has not been fighting for quite a while.
hanson
Quote: I am looking forward to Tito and Shamrock on cable TV the 10th. Me too. Sure didn't get my money out of that fight! Sad thing is, I think it'll probably be a repeat. Tito is going to pound Shamrock again. Quote: What happened to Rich Franklin? I thought he got injured, not sure though? Georges St. Pierre was supposed to fight Hughes but he got injured as well, thats how BJ got the fight. I don't see how these guys can get injured! huntingislife
Rich didn't fight too long ago against Loiseau. I don't think Silva has a chance in 64 against Rich. Swick didnt look too tough in that fight. I actually thought Loiseau would whoop him good but Swick held him off.I lost count of how many times BJ got punched before Big John stopped it. Hughes wasn't as impressive but he has got the skills down, just textbook.Did anybody notice Hughes' brother? Identical twins...it was like a shaggy haired Matt. I didn't even know he had a brother. The Grebe
There are few sports where the older participants come back and dethrone the top of the heap young lions....except pro wrasslin...we all know about that though. Gracie, BJ Penn and I heard that his next opponent is going to be Greg Gagne? I'd pay to see Hughes and St. Pierre lock em up! I wouldn't pay a quarter to watch Shamrock take another beating from Ortiz. He looks like he could be a factor, I'm sure he thinks he can be a factor, but he is like an old computer, it can't hold a candle to the newer ones! Ortiz is on the down side also, won't be to long and he will start taking beatings also. I don't think that Longevity at the top of the pile is something that is common in the UFC, not lately anyways. I mean like with things like pro boxing, or football, things like that, where a guy can be on top for years and years.
jltimm
I read that BJ dislocated some ribs, or had some type of rib injury earlier in the fight, and that's why he couldn't go in the third? Hughes will take St. Pierre in the next fight as I think Hughes has his #, he just matches up better with him.BJ sent St. Pierre to the hospital in their fight, although Pierre won the decision.Pierre is not helping matters by saying he was not impressed with Hughes' fight with BJ.
