Hello just join the forum. Started ice fishing just last winter and fell totally in love with it. I can't wait till ice hits. Just want to make a little blurp about myslef and my set up. I use an Eskimo lodge(fits 4), Jiffy ice drill, and a couple of diffrent rods. I am from NW Iowa, usually fish on ponds in the area for blue gill, bass,perch, crappie, and cat fish. Try to get to some bigger lakes for the walleyes. Anyone know of some good lakes a guy needs to target in the sourounding area.

Yea, farm ponds seem to be the best for producing large gills. think I got a hot spot where we were pulling out a number of pounders this spring after the ice was off. Hope to find them this winter when the ice is thick enough.

I have been ice fishing for about 5 years now. I absolutely love to ice and generally we have fairly good ice but last season was not. I am always looking for guys in my area to go fishing with year round. I would love to get a group of guys from Iowa together and make a trip to Minnesota, North Dakota, or South Dakota to do some ice fishing. Is anyone out there interested in getting together for some great ice fishing? I live for fishing!!

There will be a FM ice fishing get together this winter on Lac Qui Parle.

Besides the official get toghter I'm always up for ice fishing on the weekends. No clue where in IA you are but I'm about 25 miles north of Worthington. C'mon up.

Really I live in sheldon which is about 30 miles south of Worthington. Ice fished on Round Lake last year and caught a jumbo perch and had a couple of good walleye's on. Are there any better lakes in SW Minnesota that are consistent producers.

You should go to the SW MN fourm. Lots o good info there. I fish Shetek, Sara, Okabena, Grahm, blah, blah, blah mostly. I've never fished Round Lake.

Located in NW Iowa Sheldon to be exact. About 45 min. west of the great lakes in iowa. My wife is from that area which is nice so when we go to visit her mom in the winter it's like an ice fishing trip. Get to go to an area with some good lakes around and sit in a hut all day away from the in-laws lol aint life great sometimes. Last year found a small lake 3 miles south of her mom's house, holy cow perch action all day long on small minnows.
