I was talking to my uncle today. He said that they cut up 2 by 2 boards and paint them yellow and he puts them in his decoy spread to make it look like there is corn out there. He says it draws the geese in. Anyone tried this???

never tried it, but I don't see why it wouldn't work or at least help out!

Once apon a time one of the decoy makers (quack I think)made plastic corn ears for this use. Hmmm next time the local craft store has a big clearance sale maybe a hand full of fake ears...

Fake plastic corn is still made for hunting purposes. I've seen it advertised on line. I've been planning on getting some and trying it out.

Plastic ears of corn,I've seen it at cabelas and I also have heard of guys tearing up yellow paper into small pieces and spredding them about the decoys to look like corn on the ground.

Is it considered baiting though? GHG makes a plastic ear of corn that can be used for decoying birds.

I don't know why it would be considered baiting, well first of its not real corn. It would be like them saying that we can't use decoys either, it just wouldn't make any sense. But I guess anything can happen. A person could go one step farther and say that field hunting is not going to be aloud either because the field that one person might be hunting has food in it, which in a sense is can be considered baiting. I'm not really sure what the baiting law stats, be from hearing people ask questions about it, I think the DNR should really define the meaning of baiting a little bit better or something!

Anything left from normal agricultural practice is not considered baiting.

I knew that, I was just trying to prove my point that the plastic molded corn my by GHG shouldn't be considered baiting!
