Valv,

I did a little looking around and have determined it is the sending unit, I took it off the tank and moved the float and it moved the gauge. Do I have to get a new sending unit? new float? If so where do I get one on short notice? anyway I can jimmy it myself? THanks

It is diffently the cork float, I took the float out of the tank and tried it in a bucket of water and it seemed to float fine but when I put it back into the gas tank which is full it doesn't seem to float. Can I get a replacement cork anywhere. Not sure it the cork is not a boyant as it once was. Not sure why its not working in the tank.

Airjer,

I was thinking that might what the problem was, Thanks, Do you think if I let the cork dry out then it will be good to go again, or should I try to find a cork replacement, If so any ideas on where to get a replacement?

I don't know that I've ever seen a replacement float by itself... If I were you I'd try to find a replacement sender that has a float that is made of plastic. If it's close you could probably just take the float off the new sender and put it on the old sender... of course by at that point you could just replace the sender and be done with it.
