wood stove?

When I was in my teens, I used to have a wood stove in my dark house. It worked well, but t required a lot of finesse. With a small fire box, it seemed that you were either roasting hot, or on the verge of getting chilled. The heat was rather hard to regulate and keep even. Once I got enough money for a propane stove, I bought one, and have never looked back.

Though very ecnomical to purchase and operate, Gissert is right on the money about tough to regulate. Along with his comments you can also add the fact that propane provides instant heat at the touch of a button.

If you are on a budget wood does work but propane is much more convient and much safer is handled properly.

May all your rods bend frequently.

We use a NUWAY STOVE wood stove. Granted, we don't stay overnight but a wood stove can't be beat. Purchased from Woody's Hardware/Plymouth some 15 years ago, you can't beat the ambience of a wood stove. We get scrap hardwood (oak, birch, cherry, walnut) from local cabinet shops and burn roughly a dozen 5 gallon pails of wood each season. We even cook food on it and the game wardens have always commented about it when they stop in. I believe we are the only wood burner in west central minnesota. They are only hard to regulate until you figure out your burn pattern and once you get a system in place - they can't be beat. Propane is fine, but wood is FREE and smells better. I built a new shack last year and decided to go old school and put a wood stove in. Haven't regreted it yet. Does get a little chilly by the time morning rolls around if you stay over night.
