Once it's warmed up it should be a pretty good stream... how long have you had the motor and have you ever had the water pump replaced? If you use your motor regularily and haven't replaced it it's time... 3-4 years, depending on use is a pretty regular interval...

I had a '99 115 Johnson (grey in color). Should be a hard spray at all times. Also the temp alarm is very sensitive to any possible issues.

I believe in or after year 2000 some changes were made to the motors when Bombardier bought out OMC. My '99 motor was OMC. Had a friend that had a '00 or '01 that the water trickle out compared to my motor, and his was Bombardier.

There is a small plate on the motor that will give the year it was manufactured, or model year.

Yep, its a 99. Had it about a couple of years. Once its running it does spray good. It just seems to take like 8-10 seconds before that happens.(faster sometimes) Is it hard to replace the water pump? about how much does one cost? (I do conceder myself mechanically inclined) But should I bring it in? And since I am purging you guys for all the info sometime it will bog out and die (after starting and trying to get going when I have been floating on the water for a while) never had it happen when I first get to the lake. when that happens it runs kinda rough. Floats need an adjustment maybe? THANKS for the help!

That's normal for that engine.

Funny you mention "purging", because thats the delay in your water stream. The air is simply being purged from the cooling system before the water reaches the tell tale output.

The bogging after floating on the lake for a while: Normal for that engine as well.

This engine doesn't start real well luke warm, so you have to choke/prime it. And that ends being a little rich for the "inbetween" engine temp.

You might benefit from synchronizing your carbs, running a can of sea foam through a tank of gas, and changing spark plugs, but other then that, I think you're OK.

Sounds like a good assessment. But I have to say its a little disturbing to hear someone say that its normal for it to run that way mad.gif

Thanks for the reply.

Know what's even more scary than that? Watch your oil pressure gauge on a cold winter day.
