CB Radios in FH

How many of you run CB radios in your FH?

I know I have read in posts last year about people having marine radios in the house but not much on cb's.

If enough have them maybe we could have an fm channel and give a shout when on the ice.

I usually fish Faribault area lakes and as many trips to Mille Lacs as I can get away with.

Marine radios are VHF in the 155.xxx mhz range where CB is HF using 26-27.xxx mhz. You usually will hear more traffic using the marine radios, most resorts run them. CB is good to get away from the FRS/GMRS crowds.

I don't mean to but in on this but can one of you guys tell me what is the diference between a cb and boat cb?thanks DP

There is no "boat cb". There is marine VHF and CB, different rigs, different frequencies, different rules. You can purchase a CB antenna that is ment to be used in a marine environment (i.e. better weather protection and doesn't require an external ground plane). Having a CB on your boat would be useful if you enjoy talking to folk's onshore who can't legally use their marine band VHF radio's (i.e. haven't received a radio station license to use their marine VHF radio onshore - i.e. marina's and some resorts get these). One good use is if you have a camp, or lake place and want to talk to your spouse onshore to have them meet you at the ramp - CB would be a legal way of doing this (cell phone too). I'm considering installing a Cobra 75WX. all of the guts is in the handset and then you can install multiple mounts in your vehicals and then just take the handset from place to place. If you install a CB in your boat you might consider installing it in a separte housing to keep it dry.
