macminn
Was out fishing Green Lake in Spicer, got a hold of some nice bass only to have my knots come untied. Any pointers?
iffwalleyes
What kind of line are you using and what is your current knot that you are tying. I use the Palomar knot because I use alot of super lines like power pro. I also like the the improved clinch for mono and fluro carbon lines also heavy braided lines

Whoaru99
I normally use the Palomar, Trilene, or Snell knots. The animated knot site link listed previously covers them all.
BAIT956
The two knots that iffwalleyes showed are the only two you will need for freshwater teminal rigging. I use the palomar whenever possible. It is simply the easiest and strongest knot you can tie. Use the improved clinch if the hook eye is to small, (very small jigs) to get the double line through. Whoaru99
Yeah, generally I'd agree.Palomar or Trilene mostly, I go with the Improved Clinch only as you mention if the eye is too small for double line as this one is noticeably weaker than the other two. I may need to bone up on the uniknot since I think that one is supposed to be pretty strong with only a single loop through the eye.
macminn
I've just been using a cinch not I think. I'll try the Palomar for sure, looks easy and strong. Thanks to all.
Shawnny B
Macminn- I have found that with the cinch knot that I was having problems with it slipping because of two main reasons. 1. I did not twist the line enought times, IE it states 5 times, I now do a min of 7 twists. 2. I cut the Tag end of the line two short and did not pull the knot tight enough to cinch on its self. 3. (I know I said 2) I did not loop the line back threw the new loop that I made when I passed it threw I know that this sounds confusing but I dont know how else to explain it, I will say that I have just starting using the Palomar knot and it has been holding up just fine and dandy while throwing back into the lilly pads and ripping bass from them.. Hopefully some of this made some sence and will help when it comes back to Ice fishing and using those small jigs for those slab Crappies/Bull sunnies Shawnny B Oh yeah, I dont know if anyone has mentioned it or not but make sure to wet your Mono line so that it slides down eaisly and doenst pinch/nick itself. I dont know if this helps with Superbraid/braided/floro line but hey you have tons of water around.

CALVINIST
I used to be a big fan of the improved clinch, but now I use the uni-knot all the time. It's a little tricky to learn, but once you do, you can tie it quickly in the dark or without looking...no tiny holes for the tag end to go through.
