Caesarfishinguytoo
Myself, my brother and a friend went out on Thursday into Friday for our 3rd time ever chasing these flatties you all talk about and we are HOOKED! I can let my brother fill in any blanks for he is the one that caught the fish but what a blast. Someone had asked if it is better to catch the fish or be there when someone does. I haven't hooked into one like this yet, but it was a blast for me to see him catch this fish. This is my first time trying to post a picture so lets see how it goes. Looks like this hog has been caught before there were two scars on the each of the gill plates about the size of a nickle, anybody recognize their mark? Great Catch brother and can't wait to get her again!! BTW - the weight on this was 37lbs. Geo
SgtCaesarfishinguy
This fish was really a blast! We got this one at around 11:30pm, and then three more really good runs that resulted in nothing. Two got hooked, and just seemed like they let go, and another peeled a ton of line out, and was not on at the hookset. We are finding these elusive fish when it comes to hooking them. This fish was only my second flathead ever, and we can't wait to get more! Thanks to all the FM'ers who have posted their knowledge and tips, your excellent information has been nothing short of helpful in teaching us the ropes on these great fish! Random guy
Quote:there were two scars on the each of the gill plates about the size of a nickle, anybody recognize their mark? Most likely wounds from making a nest during the recent spawn.
hanson
Congrats guys!Like Jonny-P said, the scars are most likely from the spawn. These flatties beat themselves up digging out nests in the cutbanks & rocks.
SgtCaesarfishinguy
I can see how that could happen with the massive skulls these things have! Can anyone tell me how to put my pic into my avatar?? Seem to be having some struggles figuring that one out! Thanks for all the congrats, now if I can just get the wife to let me go again... she hates this fishing all night stuff, says I am worthless around the house the next day! She'll get over it!
